I spoke too soon. Redownloading the app seemed to fix the issue for a few days, but now it continues to happen every few days. I am back to having to either reset my iphone each time I switch between wifi and AT&T 3G or removing the app and reinstalling it on my iPhone. Neither one of these options is really ideal and way below the standards that Slingbox software had set for the last few years. I never had any issues when I used Slingmobile on my older Windows phone. Any other suggestions?
I'm also having the same problem since the last iphone player update both on my iphone and ipad (using Slingplayer mobile).
No problems at all using Wi-Fi, connect and plays well, but when I go to 3G the error says, "SlingPlayer cannot connect to your slingbox. Please make sure your phone and slingbox are connected to the Internet and try again."
I'm not having any other issues on either iphone or ipad on the Internet via 3G and this only happened after the last update. I have also deleted the app, reinstalled and started the ipad and iphone.
Interestingly, my partner hasn't yet upgraded to the latest version on her ipad and iphone and hers is working fine on 3G. Theres a problem obviously with the latest update.

Just "upgraded" my wireless router to a Cisco ValetPlus M20 (which was a nightmare in itself).
Perfect pic (better than with my old router) on all my mac's via wifi.
Works on my iPhone on 3G until I enable WiFi on the iPhone. Works fine on the iPhone with WiFi, then when I switch back to 3G the SlingPlayer app tells me:
"SlingPlayer cannot connect to your Slingbox. Please make sure your phone and Slingbox are connected to the Internet and try again."
I have to turn off the phone and then restart it for SlingPlayer to connect with 3G.
What I want to know is this a SlingPlayer (ie Sling) problem with the latest software update? Or do I need to change some setting on my wireless router (which I doubt because it works fine with WiFi on my mac and iPhone)?
I also uninstalled the SlingPlayer app and reinstalled it...which was no help.
Any wise sage out there with an actual solution?
Just confirmed same issue here. Connects via Wifi just fine but wouldn't connect via 3G. Turned off Wifi, power cycled phone. Now, it connects via 3G. Turn on WiFi. It connect. Turn Off WiFi. Won't connect via 3g until phone is power cycled again. I had reported this to Slingbox staff about a month ago, just after Iphone software update. They had escalated the call for review, but I have never heard back.
Further experimentation finds the following.
I don't know the specifics of the Iphone OS, but I believe programs are still 'loaded in the background' even after they are closed? I find that I will "NOT" get the error mentioned if:
After connecting via WiFi, make sure the program is unloaded by:
double clicking the iphone button
finding the loaded program icon in the bottom section
press the and hold the icon for 2sec until the "minus" icon appears
unload the program using the 'minus' icon.
Then restart Slingbox player. you will be able to connect via 3G without error locating player.
Without going thru these steps I get the error everytime I try to connect via 3G after being connected via WiFi.
Tech Support should still investigate this issue.
