i am not sure what you mean. the pro-hd doesn't have hdmi inputs. is that what you are asking? why doesn't the pro-hd have hdmi inputs?
that is a good question and - i assume - may have something to do with HDCP.
nevertheless, the pro-hd only has component inputs. i have heard of some problems with some cable/sat boxes where the units turn off the analog component outputs when there is an hdmi cable plugged in to the box. again, this is a copy protection thing done by these manufacturers.
if you DirecTV box does this, really the only solution is to connect your sat box to your tv using component cables instead of hdmi. while this sucks because that means a lot more cables to connect, i personally have never been able to tell the difference in picture quality. but maybe i am not sensitive enough to tell.
I hope this helps.
Yeah - that hdmi input on the old pro (the red one) isn't actually hdmi. that is why it isn't working. confusing as heck.
component in conjunction with that old (and hard to find) hd connect cable is pretty much the only solution for you.
