I've had the same issue for months. It works fine if my tv (which is connected to the receiver via hdmi) is on, but I'm not leaving my tv at home on all the time. I have even disconnected the hdmi cable entirely. This is completely unacceptabe. I've followed every step directv and sling have stated for this type of problem but it won't work. I'm contemplating cancelling directv because of it and selling my slingbox.
Composite is not RGB, it's component. The yellow wire is composite.
Follow the link below on how to get around copyright protection from your cable provider.
I didn't want to make the correction... but component is what I'm referring to. I wouldn't ever use composite because it's in standard definition. I have followed that link step by step a half-dozen times with no luck. The only solution that has worked for me (and is not viable) is to plug the hdmi cable into my tv and leave it on all the time.
My DirectTV broadcast is being blocked intermittently due to DRM.
I have a Slingbox 500 on an older DirecTV tuner using the composite (RGB) connection. The message I am getting is telling me to switch from the HDMI cable to a composition.
If anyone has experienced this, please advise.. Thanks
