Since I updated my Slingbox Pro-HD firmware on Nov 27, I started to receive similar error message as you do. Currently I am able to watch via Slingbox.com web-based player on Firefox and IE. But watching via Sling Desktop player for Win, the connection will frequently be interrupted with a message stating "someone else is currently viewing the slingbox as well, I have to enter my admin password to regain the control" and the message box reappears every few minutes. And I am very sure, there is no one else was using my slingbox. As far as my SlingCatcher, it is unwatchable; it will attempt to connect then an message stating having problem with connection, try again etc... All these problems occur after the most recent firmware update. I am wondering is there a way to download the previous version of firmware and roll-back .. Before Slingmedia comes up with a fix....
I got the Slingplayer to work one time then it didn't work anymore with same problems on multiple computers. Browser works, Slingplayer does not. Also says someone else is on it, now I'm suspect that it's a firmware issue. Would like ot revert to old firmware but probably not possible since what was upgraded from was what was on the box when it was purchased.
The operation failed because the message is too big
- Error: 0x923400df
- Context: 0
Not too easy to work this problem out as we are overseas and the box is in the States.
I am having the same problem as everyone else, with the same error when trying to watch my Slingbox using the Slingplayer desktop software.
I always use to be able to connect to my Slingbox HD Pro without any issue or problem using the Windows Slingplayer software, but now all I get is disconnects, especially when trying to change channels. The video streams for about 30 seconds, then the first message appears on my screen.
There was a problem communicating with the Slingbox.
Try connecting again.
After reading this forum, I tried watching my Slingbox using the built in web player for Internet Explorer for Windows. Now it plays just fine, so in fact it must be the Slingplayer software.
To watch your Slingbox VIA the web, go to this web page and sign in.
I hope the SlingMedia support staff is reading this forum and comes up with a fix soon.
I've been battling with this same problem for almost a month now!!!
The only place I can get it to work consistently is watching it via the IE web browser.... Tried watching it on Firefox and it just won't even install the watch component!!! This was never a problem until the last month...
As for the desktop player, it's inconsistent... Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't!! HELP someone from Slingbox!!! What on earth is going on and it's driving me (and probably the rest of us) crazy!!
One more side note, even when it works on IE or my desktop sling player, I've noticed that the program guide is now GONE!! anyone with this same problem??
Very concerned customer,
If you are still experiencing issues with the SlingPlayer Desktop, try following the instructions on the links below. The issue might be caused by the Internet Viewing configuration or a security setting such as a firewall on the computer.
I hope that helps!
My Slingbox was fine until about a month ago, and the connection has gradually gotten worse and worse, both on the desktop player and the web-based on on IE 9. The bitrate used to average about 2000 kbps, but now I'm lucky for it to break 500. Actually, now I'm lucky to have more than a few minutes of streaming before losing the connection. It tends to freeze a LOT now. Sometimes it will "just" skip 1-2 minutes of the show I'm watching when it freezes, but now it pretty much disconnects altogether and says that it's unable to communicate with Slingbox. I have done the hard reset multiple times, and I don't know what else to do. I had trouble with it about a year ago, when I was still within 90 days, and the multiple tech support agents I talked to were terrible. I refuse to pay $30 to be treated badly again by unhelpful techies. The problem resolved itself when I moved the box to a different house, but now it's terrible again, and it's in the same house where it's been working fine for the past year. They have already called the cable company to make sure that nothing was wrong with the Internet, but the Internet is fine. I don't know what else to do. If it doesn't get fixed, I realize I already lost my expensive investment, so there's nothing I can do for me, but just today I talked with a friend who was considering buying one and recommended that she find another option. Sad, because the idea of the technology is great, but with the inconsistent service and terrible customer service, I cannot recommend Slingbox for other friends living and working overseas.
Cristina your first link is gone. When i try to connect with slingplayer abroad it says i have not internet connection, of course i have internet and i can not open the slingplayer...i dont want to use Watch with the browser...i bougth the slingbox to use the way it was advertised plus it is better to see the tv with the sling player.PLEASE HELP
This seems to be an issue with the anti virus installed in your computer, you need to allow the SlingPlayer application first,
If the issue persists, take a look at this discussion, this might help;
today, after all these months, I finally figured this out and fixed it for good. DETERMINATION Baby!!!
and no thank you very much slingplayer support.
here is the fix for all of you as well:
Go to inbound rules, find the two entries for Slingplayer. Edit properties. Go to Advanced. Make sure Domain is checked. When all three are checked, you will see all in the column and not just public and private.
Voila!!! it works.
