Yes - All the 'original' IR codes work for the Channel Master DVR+. I have
a programmable IR remote I use here at home that has all the original IR
codes for the Channel Master DVR+. It continues to work fine.
It's just the Slingbox 500 remote IR codes that do not work (probably w/i
the last 5 days). I have used the standard configuration settings when
selecting my devise:
I was advised to try loading a customer " .bin" files w/ the DVR+ remote
codes. I will attempt to do that and see if I can get the SB500 IR remote
codes to work again.
Well I am one of the few who produce BIN files and I have not done one, the closest has been the CM-7400 at Channel Master 7400
But I just realised that your post doesn't actually tell us if the firmware up date you are talking about was for the 500 of the CM 7500. Which was it ?
And what model learning remote is ? We can probably get the codes that work off that.
BTW, I assume you have read
It looks like the firmware for BOTH Slingbox 500 and the DVR+(cm-7500) were updated recently (on or after 1/4/2016).
The current firmware specifics are as follows:
Channel Master DVR+(cm-7500)
Model ID: CM-7500GB16
Software version: 132R(05)
Bootloader Version: 103S
Downloader version: 104B-100B
Last Channel Master TV Update: Sat, Jan09-10:03 2016 (401)
UI Apps Version: 01.08.23
Firmware Version: 1.10.95
Hardware Version: 1.3.0
I just completed reloading the Channel Master DVR+(cm-7500) remote configuration for the SB500 and the "Test Your Remote" menu does not activate any codes. It appears that the SB500 is sending IR commands but DVR+ shows no response.
I have a programmable remote I now use (Dish Network 20.1 IR- EchoStar Tech) that I copied the IR codes from my DVR+ remote. That continues to work fine (before & after their firmware updates).
When I activate the Slingplayer for Tablets app , I am able to connect to the SB500 and when I tap on the remote icon (top right) the DVR+ remote skin appears. I did the IR camera test to see if the IR remote commands are transmitted to the DVR+ and they do. I tried the Power on/off command. The IR command was sent but the DVR+ power does not activate.
I sent the same command from my programmable IR remote ( the IR codes were copied from the DVR+ remote) and the PVR devise worked fine (it powered on/off).
I can only conclude that the IR codes in the SB500 configuration are wrong and/or corrupted. The SB500 IR codes worked fine about 10 days ago (using the channel master DVR+(cm-7500)) configuration setting.
I did a complete factory reset for the SB500 yesterday and installed the latest firmware and configuration settings. Still no change. The IR codes do not work w/ this firmware build.
I did a search and found this link on the JP1 Website titled Channel Master DVR+. It was posted 1/2/2016. I was going to upload the " .bin" file to the SB500 using the custom option but did not find the slingbox binary file to upload.
These were the codes that the poster tested:
Notes=NEC1-rnc is similar to NEC1, except the nibbles of the command complement are reversed.
Code.S3C80=43 8b 21 8b 12 cf 4d 08 08 01 21 03 30 01 21 00 fd d2 dc 11 94 08 b6 20 11 e4 05 06 60 06 f0 06 8d 01 46
If you can post a custom " .bin" file, I can try to upload a custom IR remote configuration file. That should/may fix the issue.
I do not think the DVR+ firmware update caused this problem but there was some discussion that the timing of the IR code transmissions could result in them not working if that was one of the firmware changes. It was not stated that that was done. Also, my programmable IR remote works fine.
I can only conclude that something changed in the SB500 on their last update that may have corrupted and/or impacted the standard IR code settings for the channel master DVR+. It's possible it may be a timing issue for IR code transmissions but I would think that would have impacted ALL SB500 machines not just those connected to the DVR+.
Hope that helps
I completed a custom upload of another Channel Master remote unit; V2010_PL.bin. My upload was successful but the Power On/Off remote did not work even though IR codes were sent by the SB500.
I also have Channel Master Technical Service looking into the issue as they did a firmware upload around the same time.
My current programmable remote works fine so I think the DVR+ box is working properly.
There is something wrong in my SB500 and I did complete a factory reset w/ new firmware uploads.
I am at a loss as to what to try next. Any ideas?
Here is a Custom Remote based on the discussions you found on the JP1 forum. Any good ? (And make sure you read the instructions IN FULL)

Re: Custom " .Bin" for Channel Master DVR+. It works Great! I did a custom upload using the IE browser through Slingbox.com Web site.
Thank you very much for your effort.
Everybody who needs to do this upload remember to :
1) put the " .bin" file in the C:\ root directory
2) C:\C2010_PL.bin (remember to include the .bin extension)
3) Upload and test.
Slingbox needs to update/change their standard configuration/definition for the Channel Master DVR+ as the one they have does not work. This custom build appears to work just fine.
I tested a lot more of the remote keys and although the layout is a bit
different from the Slingbox 500 original Channel Master DVR+ configuration,
this one does do the job. I was able to navigate to my DVR menu, scroll
and play recorded programs, delete programs but still need to test program
recording and scheduling keys/menu.
There are a few more keys I must press but still not bad once you figure
them out. I also tested the remote Slingplayer for the Android Tablet,
Android smart phone & the Web based PC. All three work and respond to this
" .bin" build.
I tested the following platforms:
Slingplayer for Web PC
- Web Site (Both Chrome & Internet Explorer) Windows 7 PC
*Only Internet Explorer allows me to update the custom configuration "
.bin" file C2010_PL*
All the virtual remote function appear to work
- Tablet - Android
Slingplayer remote keys work fine. Helpful to 'right click' the remote
icon to go directly to command
- Smart Phone - Android
Slingplayer remote keys all work. Note that MISC function has several
custom keys. Those are mapped as follows:
Custom 11 - Guide
Custom 12 - DVR
Custom 13 - Audio
Custom 14 - Audio
Custom 15 - DVR advance
Custom 16 - DVR advance
Custom 28 - DVR advance
Custom29 - DVR back
I did a complete factory reset, uploaded the latest firmware and originally
configured for PVR/Channel Master/DVR+. Then I connected to Slingbox
using IE Browser. *After logging into my account I went to "Settings" and
reconfigured the HDMI connection (remember you must authorize by-pass). I
selected PVR/Channel Master/Custom*.
- Under Custom, I entered the path for the C:/C2010_PL.bin (I placed the
C2010_PL BIN file from the the posted zip archive in to the C: root
directory). I clicked on download/Test. The " .bin" File will download to
Slingbox 500 and/or Slingbox 350.
I logged off of Internet Explorer Slingbox.net account. *I then performed
a 'soft' reset on the Slingbox 500* (note: you can also power down BOTH
DVR+ and Slingbox 500, wait 1 minute, then power on). This performs a soft
boot for both devices where all new firmware and modifications are loaded
Tested the Slingplayer for Smart Phone, Tablet and PC and everything worked
fine including power on/off. Note: I had to do a complete power reset
after all of the changes described above because the remote screen(s) would
turn dark and sometime would net connect. You need to remember to log off
of the main slingbox server and/or force other users off the active account
for everything to connect and work as before.
Hope that helps.

Alan, great job. If you want this issue to go away - follow his instructions How to Install a Custom Remote onto the Slingbox – Place Shifting Enthusiasts
I had to use a non-Windows 10 maching, Windows 7 with the IE browser - all good now.
When I am at my vacation property I will test the Chromcast/slingplayer as
I own one of those too. I think my problem was unique just to the Channel
Master DVR+. The Slingbox Technical service reps suggested I consult these
forum boards as my Slingbox 500 was outside of the 90 day warranty service
period (bought my box 4/2014).
I am sure Slingbox will eventually discover the Channel Master DVR+
standard configuration " .bin" file errors. I was just happy to find that
the problem was not isolated to my specific unit. My Slingbox 500 and DVR+
combination was expensive and I want to get at least 5 years out of the
units. I got several emails along the same lines so we have a large
investment in the equipment and must be sure they work correctly even w/
If/when I find any issues with my Chromcast/slingplayer I will search these
boards for the answer. Good luck and keep lurking . . .
OK, there is some misunderstanding going on here. The make of Slingbox is totally irrelevant, all marks of Slingbox use the same system for their virtual remotes. Similarly, the type of viewer is also totally irrelevant. The Custom Remote actually resides in the Slingbox so all viewing systems will use the same codes. So the bottom line is that is if it works one one type of Slingbox and one viewer, it will work on everything else (with the possible exception of the iPad, where Sling have refused to give access to the Custom Buttons).
And it is now obvious that this was definitely caused by the firmware update to the Channel Master DVR which changed to the IR system, using an IR protocol that no-one has ever seen before and we have had to adapt all our software tools to fit. No blame can be attached to Sling.
And no-one seems to have read the README file where it states "This file will use the basic, default, remote image. If you know of a built-in remote that actually displays a realistic remote then go back on the forum and I will see what I can do. "
Obviously we do know of a built-in remote that uses the correct image, the original Channel Master DVR. I'm surprised no-one has asked me to change the file ?
OK, here is a new version. It still has the original C2010 files, but now has the V1528 files that should give you a realistic Channel Master remote.
Can someone please test it ?
Channel Master DVR+.zip 1.6 K
Sorry for the confusion. I will test it today. Thank you for your
continued interest and support. Not sure what the V1528 files are (is that
the image skin for the DVR+ remote)?

Loaded and tested the "V1528_PL.bin" file for the Channel Master DVR+
remote codes & skin. Very nice. Work's perfect, just as before.
I also loaded the same PVR/Channel Master/DVR+ configuration file that is
in the standard configuration settings and that one still does not work.
Slingbox needs to replace those files w/ your new updated build (ie. V1528
Thank you again for your continued effort and support.
I am experiencing the same issue. My IR remote works fine controlling DVR+ at home. But not through Slingbox virtual remote via windows laptop or android phone. Last worked successfully Jan 7th from my phone. I receive sound and video of current channel but cannot change channel or access the DVR+ menu.
You mean they (slingplayer) installed it in their next update? Charge for
On Mon, Jan 18, 2016 at 12:20 PM, alanrichey42 <firstname.lastname@example.org>
Defiantly not. I don't normally stand up for Sling Media but in this case they are totally blameless. In this case the fault lies 100% with Channel Master. It looks as though Channel Master did a firmware update that made a slight but crucial change to the design of the IR stream used to control the box. When you are trying to support thousands of different AV Devices it is impossible to cope with a Company that makes such an unannounced change on just one of the devices.
And your comment about using V1528_PL.BIN is a bit misleading. That may true for you but anyone with an older European Solo will need to use the V1528_RV.BIN file.
Same with my SB500 and Channel Maser DVR+. I called technical services to make them aware of the problem w/ their latest firmware update but got no positive confirmation that (1) they are aware of this specific problem and (2) if they have a fix and/or will be resolved with the next firmware update. They said to check these forums but I see no replies from their representatives that they even read our comments. FWIW, it appears that the firmware update only broke those devises that use the Channel Master DVR+ remote channel configuration.
I would like to know when they plan to fix the problem and if that will be from an automatic firmware update?
