I have gone through the setup wizards step by step and it will not recognize my router. username/password are correct, and i've gone through it 5 times. any ideas what i am doing wrong? i have a basic, 2wire router and followed the directions perfectly. any idea what i'm doing wrong?
remote access is why 90% of slingboxes exist. why does it not troubleshoot this instead of just telling me it's not working? argh.
any help from someone without the last name of slingbox would be appreciated.
If your router doesn't have Universal Plug & Play or if that option is disabled, then the Slingplayer's Setup Assistant will tell you that credentials are wrong. The software isn't sophisticated enough to understand the difference between the inability to connect and the wrong credentials.
In any case, once you've setup the Slingbox for viewing locally, its the routers responsibility to allow remote viewing. I recommend that check your router's firewall rules. You'll need to make sure that that the corresponding public UDP and TCP ports and being forwarded to your Slingbox's private IP address.
