Need bin file for STB model: DCX3620 and IP810

    minh.tran

The DCX3620 and IP810 (Arris STB) use RF remote as well as an IR remote called UPC.  Back of remote has these info:

      RC2094501/B

      3139 238 15701

      CP02 20848 J 001824

Please create for us the bin file for IR.

      Thank you!

I assume you have already done a proper Forum Search for your model number in case other people have already answered your question ?

If so and that didn't help then check out this thread:  https://community.sling.com/message/10363#10363

Come back if it that doesn't help either.

Yes, I have.  No one posted anything on DCX3620 and IP810 but me.

I had a support person try out various remotes (Motorola and other IR but none worked).  These STBs only work with UPC remote as I described above.

Probably can't help then.   Neither of these boxes has made it onto the Logitech Harmony IR Database, where I get the codes.  Having said that for the last few years EVERY Motorola DCxxx  box has used the same code set so I am a bit surprised that any you tried did not work.  I assume you tried one of the Custom Remotes I built ?

As you read my post I am assuming you have already checked your IR is actually working ? and the boes are set to IR and not RF ?

Yes, my IR remote (UPC) works.

Can you please provide link to your custom remotes build?

It was in the post I asked you to read at  https://community.sling.com/message/10363#10363  Are you saying you didn't read it ?

First, I see the click "here" is actually a link.  Anyway, I downloaded UPC remote zip file (1.ir and 2.ir).  I will search your forum to find out how to load these ir files.   I'd really appreciated if you don't mind telling how to do it.

Second, the tech support said .bin file so I imagine a .bin and not .ir.

There is no .bin file for UPC, only .ir here http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=category&cat_id=87&sort_method=file_name&sort_order=ASC&start=1000

Load .bin instruction is here http://support.slingbox.com/KB/KB-1000320

                              Where is loading .ir guide?

I think you are getting confused, the 'real' remote is irrelevant, after all you are not going to be using it when away from home.  So any discussion about UPC and .ir files is a total red herring.

You are looking for .bin files that might control your box.   As a start point look at the Motorola DCT-6416 III PVR  Custom Remote.    And don't use the Sling instructions, they are useless, use the instructions I link to in the Readme file (and PLEASE read them in full)

(And it is NOT 'my forum', I have nothing to with Sling I am simply a user like yourself, who tries to help people)

I guess I'm confused.  Anyhow, thanks for providing the .bin file.  I tried on both Slingbox 500 and Slingmedia.  Slingbox 500 doesn't allow me to use custom remote there is no Arris/Motorola with DCX3620 model.  The screen said it will forward to Slingbox team for future consideration.

I tried Slingmedia also.  It allowed me to use custom remote and I tried both .bin file from the DCT-6416 III file you provided.  That didn't work either.

In short, the DCX3620 is recently made by Arris.  This STB supports RF as well as the UPC horizon remote.  It doesn't not work with any other remotes (Motorola, Comcast, Philips, universal remote with programming code, etc.)

Let's take a UPC physical remote and press power next to DCX3620.  This UPC sends a IR signal keycode VK_POWER,549463564,128.  The STB understands this code and will power on the STB.  So it appears a custom .bin file is needed with UPC keycode so that I no longer need the UPC physical remote and use Slingbox virtual remote.

Here is the keycode that this DCX3620 and IP810 understand.

I guess I'm confused.  Anyhow, thanks for providing the .bin file.  I tried on both Slingbox 500 and Slingmedia.

That makes 2 of us    The Slingbox 500 is a piece of hardware and Sling Media is the Company that make them.    You should be installing using one of the SlingPlayers, either the Web Browser or the standalone Desktop Player.

It allowed me to use custom remote and I tried both .bin file from the DCT-6416 III file you provided.  That didn't work either.

That is disappointing.   You obviously didn't read the installation instructions I provided.   They would have told you what BIN file to use and also asked that you never use the words 'didn't work'.

I thought I had explained that the UPC remote is not relevant.   I agree that the UPC sends a Power On signal to power it on, but that is because that is the signal the STB requires.  All we need to do is find out how to make the Sling Custom Remote to output the required signal.

Here is the keycode that this DCX3620 and IP810 understand.

I don't have any I'm afraid.  I have never seen an IR code expressed in that format, it means absolutely nothing to me.   I will ask over that JP1 forum and see if anyone else has any idea.  If you want to track any progress see JP1 Remotes :: View topic - Unknown IR code format
