We no longer support software for use with Windows Vista or XP, but there may still be a way you can use your Slingbox PRO-HD with a computer running one of those operating systems. If the Embedded player and the Facebook player do not work on Vista or XP, I would suggest trying the old Slingplayer for Desktop software, which should still work for the PRO-HD (we're not able to guarantee this will work based on the Operating System). Here's a download link for the old Slingplayer software for Windows:
Just for reference, here is an article that contains which computer operating systems we do currently support:
Hope this helps!
Having exactly the same problem but only on the Facebook app. Had worked fairly well for over a year, and then about a month ago started getting the same error.
Unable to connect to the Slingbox. Please check that your Slingbox is ON and is connected to the network.
Works on home network and no where else. Have tried on a half-dozen different computers, IE, Chrome and Firefox, dozens of different remote locations. Simply no longer works which is annoying.
Windows 7, 8.1
Chrome, Firefox, IE
Works on embedded Sling Player on all platforms.
We no longer support or update the Facebook app, so we cannot guarantee it will work as intended, but if what you said is true - that the Facebook Slingplayer app works at home, but nowhere else, we may be looking at an internet viewing issue that is causing your Facebook problems.
I looked into your account, and I saw that your Slingbox is not being allowed to stream in TCP through your home router. You should be able to fix that by setting up port forwarding for port 5201 in your home router.
Here is an article with a little more information on port forwarding:
The link within the article can help you set up port forwarding in your particular router.
