I see a couple more having exactly the same issue. This Slingbox 350 firmware update 1.5.072 issues with Fire TV Slingplayer app
was posted 3 1/2 month ago, there must be a solution to this.
Any advise or fix to this issue is much appreciated
I would suggest placing a port forwarding rule on your router. Your router screens all data that go through your network. This will let the router know that the Slingbox is a trusted device. The Slingbox 350 uses port 5201. In the link below, there is a guide on how to port forward the Slingbox:
Hope this helps!
thanks. I will do so, within a couple of days, when I am at the same place as my Slingbox and router.
But, I am quite sure my Asus RT-AC66U is set up with UPnP, but I can add the rule for port 5201, on the router.
Reading the text, it says I have to have a static IP address, that confuse me a bit.
My situation is; I am using SlingPlayer for Amazon FireTV from my cabin, conecting to my Slingbox at home, should my Amazon FireTV have s static IP address?
Anyone else reading this, especially you having similar issue as I refer to in my second reply of this thread, how did you fix it?
Or, do you still see it stops/buffering all the time from Slingplayer for Amazon FireTV?
I can't wait till I am home, adding port forwarding to my router, to see if it resolves my issue.
I am sorry, looks like it does not help.
I enabled port forwarding on my home router, where the Slingbox 350 is wired connected. Rebooted the router, power off/on Slingbox, restarted Amazom FireTV. When the Amazon FireTV is wired connected it works next to perfect, the only thing I could wish was better is the resolution, even if I have about 8K bitrate I only get 640x480. I manually set it to Best, but it is still only 640x480.....
But, the problem is when I use my Amazon FireTV outside my home, connecting my Slingbox 350 over internet. Then it acts the same way as before I added port forwarding....., it stops/buffering all the time, so it looks like this does not help. The bitrate is varying. I tested this by connect the Amazon FireTV to my 4G router, I assume streaming should work on mobile network (3G/4G) as well?!
Hopefully you have some new advise, I can try!
What can I do go fix this???
Look forward to hear from you soon.
SlingPlayer for Amazon FireTV stops/buffering.
Slingbox 350, works better on a Slingplayer from PC, than on a FireTV, where it seems to be a more permanent problem. It is stopping/buffering all the time.
So what does Slingbox experts say to this??? I also have firmware 1.5.72 on Slingbox.
Is there a new release of the frmware, correcting this issue?
Any updates to apply to SlingPlayer for FireTV?
Any other tips/tricks to avoid this / workaround??
Look forward to some feedback on this.
