Afraid the initial installation has to be carried out at the location of the Slingbox so the handshaking between it and the router can be set up. But that is it, after that any other changes can be made from a remote location. So your wife will have to download the software and run through the initial setup. During that procedure she will create an account with a login and password. You can then access the account from your remote laptop using the software player.
Help, please! I have a question concerning the installation of Slingbox M software to my laptop when I'm not at home with my slingbox hardware and set top box. My wife (in Florida) just bought slingbox for me and has installed the cable connections to the set top box but I'm located in California. The instructions require me to load the software onto my laptop while accessing the same wi-fi as my slingbox, which is obviously not possible. Are there any work arounds for this that anyone knows of? This seems like a major limitation. Thanks for your help!
