Is there a possibility for someone to reset the Slingbox where it's located?
If so, that may resolve your issue.

The box eventually started working. Nobody was at the house, so I don't
have any idea what was happening.

I've been using my SlingBox for about a year with no (few) problems, but I just started getting this message...
"The finder ID was not found the server, so the Slingbox cannot be added to your account and cannot be connected to the network."
So, I can't get anything from the box. I'm at a remote location now, so can't see if there is a problem at the box's end... power, network, etc.
What are possible causes of this message? I tried to connect to the box from two different PC's and got the same error message.
