I installed the Sling Mobile app on my Motorola Droid running Android 2.1. It works great when I’m home and connected to my home’s WiFi. When outside of my home I thought it would automatically connect to the Verizon 3G network. I see the 3G symbol on the display (see attached photo) so I assume I have a strong signal. I can surf the web with the browser so I verified the phone was connecting. Can someone explain why the Sling player doesn’t work? It give me a message saying “Connection failed. Please make sure your phone and Slingbox are connected to the Internet” (see attached photo).
You'll need to enable port forwarding for TCP and UDP on your router for remote viewing. Port forwarding is a mechanism to allow internet quests for a particular port to be directed to your Slingbox's private IP address. (http://support.slingmedia.com/get/KB-005571.html)
