Sounds as though this may be an issue with improper updates. I would recommend making sure both your iPad and AppleTV are fully up-to-date. Then I would uninstall and re-install the SlingPlayer application on your iPad just to cover all your bases. Below is an article that will walk you through the uninstall/re-install process:

When I use my iPad to stream the SlingPlayer App to my AppleTV via AirPlay the only thing that streams is audio. The Sling website provides directions to stream both audio AND video and when I follow these directions only video streams. I am able to use AirPlay to mirror my ipad and see both audio and video but the quality is compromised and I'd like to use the actual AirPlay option to see quality video. How can I make this work?!?
