Sorry for replying to my own thread. The error message always occurs at the step where Setup is trying to configure the onscreen remote.
Also, I can hear the audio from the current channel coming through my laptop during the setup process, from the Configuration step through the signal provider setup (choosing Directv), and then it cuts out when the setup is trying to configure the onscreen remote, right at the time the error message pops up.
I don't know if that's relevant or not. Is there a technical support phone number I can call??
