The Slingbox is its own server.  The Slingplayer Desktop and the Web Slingplayer are clients to the server.  The interconnection between the two are supported by your local hardware and your broadband service provider.  There are no Sling servers involved with the streaming of live TV from your Slingbox. The only services that Slingmedia provides on their server for the Slingplayer is the Sling Locator Service and the Electronic Program Guide.

The Sling Locator Service keeps track of your router's public IP address.  This is important since most broadband services providers will not issue a static IP address without a premium cost.  This means your router's public IP address can change at anytime.  The Sling Locator Service allows you to connect to your Slingbox without you having to manually check your current router's public IP address.

The electronic program guide is a feature that allows you to check the programming of your television provider.  While the content is provided by Zap2It, the guide itself its distributed from Slingmedia servers using Pando distribution software.

That said, how can we help you?

If you're having problems with your Mac Pro and the Slingbox, I suggest you either call technical support or elaborate to us more about your situation.  For example, does this happen locally or over the internet.  Which model is your Slingbox (Classic, Tuner, AV, Pro, Solo, or Pro-HD)?  Have you tried reinstalling a fresh copy of the Slingplayer Desktop or Web clients?

            ----

And on a side note, typing in CAPS gives an impression that you're yelling.  It would probably be a good idea to refrain from posting in all CAPS, since you're less likely to be taken seriously, and people in this community are only trying to help.

After a public beta spanning a couple months, Sling is rolling out the  latest piece of its expanding SlingPlayer Mobile portfolio this week -- this time for Android, plugging the biggest  coverage gap it currently has. This is the same app we recently  had an opportunity to check out, but since that preview, we're  happy to report that it's been massaged into a more stable, more usable  setup -- gone are the disconnect crashes we'd had before. Furthermore,  Sling claims they've specifically worked to improve load and response  times with this version, and we have to say that the effort is  noticeable -- this definitely feels like the fastest SlingPlayer Mobile  we've used to date. It's officially available starting tomorrow from the  Market in Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy,  Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, the UK, and the US for $29.99. Follow  the break for the full press release.
