Thank you for participating in our Answers forum. The issue you are experiencing to due to something called High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection, also known as HDCP. Here is some more information from our Support website that explains this in further detail:
- When I connect my set-top box to my TV with HDMI connections, I can't stream video at all using any version of SlingPlayer. Why?
It is likely that, in the coming years, we will be seeing more and more of this issue, as the last thing any provider would want is to have the content being streamed or recorded (and thus re-distributed for free or for profit by some one else). Even if you had Component outputs on your cable/satellite box, there is another feature to be on the lookout for; it is called Selectable-Output Control, which causes the HDMI output to disable the Component video output of your cable/satellite box. Here is some more information:
- Using an HDMI video source with the Slingbox 500
- Your Slingbox works fine unitil you turn on your TV. Then suddenly, there's no video in SlingPlayer.
Hope this helps!
