Does WIFI in house streaming use the Internet  ??

Hello everyone ..Here is my ask..

      My tentative Config :

      Sling 350

      WD Plus

      Router 300Mps

      Repeater 300mps

All Im looking for is to transmit my Sat Signal to the basement ..nothing remote or out of my LAN ..so all internal

Im would be using a 350 hardwired into the Router..

in the basement - I would hook up a WD Live to a TV ..

Here is my ask .. I know on initial start up and setup .. the Sling 350 would use Internet.. but once it starts to stream either a Movie or SAT signal .. does it still use Internet Bandwidgth  ?.. Im using a Mobile Hub  as my internet source.. I get 4G .. which is great.. but very expensive to use when over 20GB per month.. so I really only want to use WIFI ..

So does this config use Internet Bandwidth ?

is the Sling the right product for me ?

thanks in advance for all responses !

          Hello mzn50,

Thanks for posting in the forums! That's a great question. When streaming in your own network, the Slingbox does use Internet bandwidth but not nearly as much as it would use if you were connecting from a remote location.

The reason that is uses the Internet in your home is because the Slingbox first goes from your network to our servers, in order for it to have the functions it does.

Feel free to reply if you have any other questions!

          Have a great day!
