We need a lot more information than that if we are to help, 99.9% of us haven't seen a Time Warner box.

Other than renting another SB, is there a way to get around these limitations to set up a Slingbox and other devices?

All the Slingboxes have what are called 'pass-through' ports so you not need a dedicated output, you can plumb it in between devices.   For example, if you use the Yellow/Red/White composite output to drive a separate AV device, simply take the 3 wires, plug them into the Slingbox IN ports and then take another set of 3 wires from the Slingbox OUT to the AV device.
