how to increase bandwith outside of Lan

    allanwalker

on my local network the slingbox 500 receives a bandwith of over 4000 and streams very well, when I tried using wireless at another location -only blocks away I received a bandwith of only 300 and the slingbox was very poor, yet youtube streamed very well at the same place.  Is there a way to enhance bandwith outside of ones LAN??

Your upload is the limiting factor.  The internet connection that most subscribe to are disproporationately weighted toward download speeds over upload.  Do a speedtest.net test to check your upload on the ISP connection that serves the slingbox.  You are looking for something better than 1Mbps up, preferrably more.  The remote site is less likely the problem.
