Data usage while watching at Home?

I'm looking at purchasing a Slingbox.  When the Slingbox is connected to the home network by Ethernet cable and I'm watching the Slingbox on a Laptop through the WiFi connection on the same network, does it still go over the Internet and count towards my data usage from my Internet provider?

It shouldn't because you're not using the internet to stream the content, you're using your own network.

What you're watching never goes outside your network.  Now, if you're refering to 'what' you're watching, i.e. watching a movie from Netflix, then that's the content your internet provider will monitor.
