Sorry, we obviously have different definitions of EXACTLY Remember, I am trying to reproduce your problem on my machine so using terms like 'it doesn't find it' does not help. Just take me step-by-step through what you are doing and at what point it stops doing what you are expecting. And then describe EXACTLY what you are seeing, or not seeing on the screen.
And Windows or Mac? Standalone Slingplayer or Web-based Player? .... There is no such thing as too much information.
Okay, here is exact detail. The first slingbox solo we had was called Timberhaze Slingbox. We returned this and received a replacement because it would not power up. We received the new slingbox solo and installed it in place of the first slingbox solo. This is connected to our Tivo HD via component cables, and is hooked up to our network. We are trying to access the slingbox solo with a Mac running Mac OSX 10.7.4
We are trying to use the setup process to setup the slingbox solo on our network. Here are screen shots of what we see. First, the setup process says it sees 2 slingbox players, which is not accurate since one was returned. The screen looks like this:
This is a little weird to us, but we do not see a way to delete the Timberhaze slingbox (which is not connected), so we select the unconfigured box. Next, we get this screen....
Everything is connected, so we select next. Then we get a message that our software is up to date, which looks like this:
We select next, and then enter the information on this screen
This is the next screen we see in the setup process. It looks like this:
As you can see, the slingbox has found the video and audio signal from our Tivo. But now when we try to do the remote control setup, we enter 'Tivo' in the box where it says in light gray "Type the first few letters of your model..." We type in Tivo, and nothing happens. We hit 'enter' and nothing happens except a litte wheel spins in the upper right hand corner. Eventually it stops, and we hit next, and get this screen:
It cannot find a match to Tivo. So we go back, and we try the option of selecting from a list of supported devices, the screen looks like this:
So we select PVR from the drop down box, then we get "no manufacturers available". The screen looks like this:
This is the endless loop we get into for trying to setup the remote on our slingbox solo. I hope this is exact enough to help you find a solution to our problem.
Much better :-) None of the screenshots cam through but there was one CRUCIAL phrase you said:
So we select PVR from the drop down box, then we get "no manufacturers available".
That is the answer, your Slingbox is broken
I guess you didn't do a Forum Search before posting your question ? It's always a good idea, and if you had done one on the keyword 'no manufacturers available' you would have found lots of postings from people with the same problem. Apparently U21, a TS1117 3.3V voltage regulator, has failed.
If the box is under warranty simply get a new one. If it isn't, I haven't tried it myself, but it appears from other postings on this forum that Sling have recognised this as a known design fault so when they phone Support they get a replacement box.
