    Bringing back http://remotes.slingbox.com

    keehui

I understand that your team have taken http://remotes.slingbox.com down to work out the bugs and all. But while your team is still working on it, why don't you bring that website back. Taking it offline while your team still figuring and working out the kinks just frustrate the customers who knows how to use the website.

Please bring it back so I can setup my slingbox.

      Thank you.

I agree, this is very poor to have the site removed for so long.   But if you tell me your manufacturer and Model Number i might be able to build a Custom Remote for you.

exactly, this is a very rude move against us who used the remote learning with success, I will never buy a slingmedia product again, this is complete lack of administrative skills, and just shows that slingmedia just doesn't care if you are capable of using their product. they just wanted the money, I'm through with slingmedia - this is ridiculous.

I am also annoyed by the fact that sling just took the website down. I have asked Sling directly using our (Dutch) support number. They told me to go to some link (which, in the end, boiles down to the web site remotes.slingbox.com currently redirects to).

If that wouldn't help there is nothing they can do for me.

So I've learned my RC via the website and thank god I have saved it to some .lrz file using the export function.

If my bax goes to factory default my box ends up useless for me as I cannot program my RC in it.

I want to edit my current RC for about 5 months now but I cannot because the #@$%%^& of Sling Media took the website down. They simply removed functionality on my (d-amn expensive!!!) box.

Sling media is not willing to share any information about the remotes.slingbox.com site .

PS If Sling media removes this message, I am willing to start a campaign for this using Twitter

PS2 the reason I say this is because I asked Sling Media politely over at their facebook site and instead of answering they simply removed my message. I guess it was not the information they would like their new customers to see. They just want to harvest money.

If you tell me the manufacturer and model number i might be able to build you a Custom Remote that you can configure however you like.

Alan, I really really honestly admire your kindness for trying to help almost anyone on this forum. That's really kind of you.

But you've offered me this service twice in the past. But in the past you were unable to make my rc. I have a motorola VIP 1963 with a spare remote control which I could share with you by regular postage.

Ah but things have moved on    We spent a lot of time over at the JP1 forum analysing the signals from these Motorola boxes and we think we cracked it.   Have a try:

Custom Remote file now available for the Motorola 1910/1920/1960 series

I am really glad you guys finally seem to found a solution. But I am afraid I will lose my current remotes.slingbox.com-RC if yours won't work. Is this new rc gonna work next to the remotes.slingbox.com-RC ? (So if it doesn't work for me, I can revert to my remotes.slingbox.com-RC ?)

                                  • Re: Bringing back http://remotes.slingbox.com

Good question.  I think the answer is no.  But here is a possible solution.  Try configuring one of your spare inputs (S-Video?) with this new Custom Remote.   Then try tapping the buttons and see if your VIP 1963 reacts to the signals.   If it doesn't then you have proven it doesn't work without losing your present LRZ-based configuration.

                                        Hi Alan,

Smart idea! I've connected the motorola box to the composite input and tested your files. The channel up/down buttons won't work and the radio button (custom11) takes me to the 'mijn info' (my info, some news sites rss feeds) screen.

Good thing is this remotes allows me to zap to double digit channels and zaps WAY faster than the one I've learned via the remotes.blabla website.

If this channelup/down thing is fixeable, this would be a really good option for me to use. thanks!

Good, 95% of the way there    Unfortunately the Channel+/- codes I put into the 1910 remote match the ones I have for the 1963.   I installed the 1963 onto my Harmony Programmable Remote so maybe whoever uploaded it to the Logitech Harmony database got it wrong.   Checking everything else I see that the Skip+/- (Next Track/Prev Track) codes seem different.   Do they work OK for you ?

I also see some other differences:

                                            1.  The WWW (Ciustom 17) button is called ?

                                            2.  The Teletext (Custom 15) code is different

                                            3.  The StopWWW (Custom 18) is called TV/Exit

                                            4.  The TV (Custom 12) is called Video

                                            The following are not defined

                                            List (Custom 10)

                                            Radio (Custom 11)

                                            Music (Custom 13)

                                            Portal (Custom 14)

                                            Games (Custom 16)

Does all that make any sense ?

Once I have a full list of changes we can start doing some investigating.

On the physical remote I only have these buttons: << and >>

I don't have any |< and >| buttons, for skipping a track or so.

The << and >> buttons work perfectly.

I've tested all of the custom buttons:

Custom 10:    List => takes me to a list of recorded stuff. I don't have a button for that on my physical remote
Custom 11:    Radio => takes me to 'my info'
                                                Custom 12:    TV => TV
Custom 13:    Music => takes me to where I can rent movies. I don't have a button for that on my physical remote
Custom 14:    Portal => Menu button
                                                Custom 15:    Teletext => teletext
Custom 16:    Games => displays a window telling me to contact my service provider if I want 'this'. We don't have a button or a games option in the menu
Custom 17:    WWW => does nothing, we don't have a WWW browsing option or button on the physical remote
Custom 18:    Stop WWW => does nothing, we don't have a WWW browsing option or button on the physical remote

Can I provide you with my .lrz file to see what we need to send for ch up/down ?
