Dun think its the protection issue?
Cos i'm able to output both hdmi and the component connection.
Tested HDMI to TV and Component connect to another tv. Both output source as 1080i. Both working great.
Tested HDMI to TV and component connect to slingbox solo. Both out to source as 1080i. Solo not working. If down to 576i or 576p. Both will work great.
Qns now is. solo accept 1080i or 720p? As both dont work on Slingbox. I tried without the hdmi connection connected also dont work.
I don't know if this is helpful, but my Slingbox Solo used to work when my Directv DVR (HD-21) was set to 1080i. Now the Solo ONLY works correctly if you set the DVR to 480p or 480i. It's a nuisance to have to change the DVR input every time I use the Slingbox. The DVR is hooked to the TV using component video although I don't think that is relevant.
Thank you for your participation in the Slingbox Answers Forum, I can definitely understand why you have contacted us in regards to the video concern with your Slingbox SOLO. When your connecting with the component cables, make sure if your also using HDMI that you disconnect it due to HDCP. Below the link will explain this process..
Hope this helps.

From the spec list of the slingbox solo fr this link
It stated "HD component input support with resolution up to 1080i (down-converted)"
So its able to support input of 1080i right? Of cos the output will be down-converted unless u got the slingbox HD set for output to HD.
