    Slingbox Solo - No Wi-Fi Streaming over Internet, 3G Works OK


      I just purchased a Slingbox Solo.  Streaming works over 3G, but I have been unable to get it to work over any external Wi-Fi hotspot.  I get an error “Your Slingbox is not connected to the Internet.  Check your connection and try again.”  Any idea what I need to do to get this working?



      The Slingbox Solo is connected to my home network via Ethernet to a Netgear WNDR 3400 and out through an Actiontec M1000 DSL modem/router.  The video source is a DirecTV HR23 DVR.  Sling Media tech support helped me configure this dual router setup with port forwarding through port 5001.  It works great on the local network via Ethernet and Wi-Fi (iPhone 4s and iPad 2, iOS 5.01), and it works OK over 3G to my iPhone 4S (albeit only at Standard Quality).  I’m guessing the low video quality is most likely due to poor upload speed of the DSL connection (750 kb/s).
