First guess it it's an issue with the port you have open or you don't have the port you have opened matching up to your Slingbox port needed. If you give us some more details we might be able to help you, what router do you have? Did you make sure you clicked "enable" or whatever your router says when you opened up the port? You mentioned TCP/ICP settings, but that really doesn't have anything to do with your Sling it's all about the ports being opened correctly.
Greetings all, new here..
I was going to start a new thread but this one matches the problem I am having with my "pro".
1...bought from guy on net
2...reset box and obtained an account and admin passwrord, etc
3...using win xp pro sp3
4...linksys router (4-port) BEFSR41 (NOT wireless)
5...scanned for chanels and found all
6...direct connection to pro w/out box
7...current program and files downloaded
I ran through everything involving the setup however, may be a problem with router configuration(s).
It lists the router with different interface listings (1,2,3) and i have tried them all!.. In one part of the
configuration it says "forwarding" and it lists on the far left side of the page (directions/instructions) for me
to type in "slingbox".
Well, there is no such space/box on my linksys router to do that!...
This is where I am stuck!...***Everything else seems to have gone in w/out a hitch so far. I can view tv w/in the network but,
not via internet access.what am i doing wrong?

When it says to type in Slingbox that's just giving it a name. Your router I highly doubt would have been set up already for Sling. Port Forwarding is much more common in the gaming world. You should first open the port up (5001) then after you have it opened you should then be able to type in "slingbox" but make sure your port you opened matches up to the IP address you gave your Slingbox, your router needs to know what IP address to forward that port too.
.....NO, you didn't fully read or understand my question...AGAIN, there is NO PLACE using all the selections for my linksys router as mentioned in my original post that gives me ANY PLACE to type in "slingbox" as the directions clearly state......until i solve this section i can go no farther...thanks for the attempt anyway.....
Might try the manual port forward setup shown here for that linksys router.
The pics will be an older version of Slingplayer but it will be similar enough to work.
