It seems that you are having some issues in order to get the remote connection.
This issue might be related to the fact that you have not set up the Slingbox for Internet Viewing in a proper way. With this in mind, I recommend you to check the following links in order to enable the Internet Viewing feature.
Since you are using the iPad, I recommend you to run the Manual Configuration. Just make sure to use the TCP protocol when creating the rule on the router. This way, you will have no issues when using the Mobile application on your iPad.
