Why do I need to update my firmware to 1.2.1 (what does it give me)?

Being of the school of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", I was dismayed to see that when I installed the sling player onto a new computer and tried to connect to my slingbox, I was presented with the message:

A slingbox firmware update (firmware version: 1.2.1) is available.

When I connect remotely, the update message can be cancelled, but keeps coming up when I reconnect.

On my local LAN, if I cancel the update, then the player will not start.

From the remote connection, I can see that everything works fine. So, I don't know why I am being forced to update the firmware. I cannot find any information regarding what the firmware update contains and what updates have been made from the version that I currently have.

Has anyone used this update. Is it safe to install (I don't want to mess up my slingbox just before I'm due to go away)
