After using slingbox solo with my ipad for more than a year, I can suddenly no longer maintain a connection for more than 10-20 seconds either unless I change it to SQ. It started right after the last update. There were/have been no other changes to my connections, routers, bandwidth, etc. or even where the ipad and slingbox are postioned. The only difference is/was the update. I also followed all of the "trouble shooting steps" provided here. The only difference was the last update.
